After showing the sacred scripture Uncle Toms Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe I believe this book impacted and changed the attitudes and policies directed to slaves and African Americans in North America. I think when this fictional book about real life slavery that was currently happening in North America came out people got impacted by it because even though it may be a fictional book, slavery was unimpeachably happening all across the continent.
The scenes described in Stowes novel probably got people thinking the actions that were occurring in the book (ex. the unmannerly and demeaning actions of Mr. Legree, Prue getting beaten to death etc.) were rattling happening in the slave trade today. People who read the book probably finally saw all the injustices that were occurring against the slaves and the African Americans in the real world and acted on them. This book opened up peoples minds to the realization that the current slave trade was not anywhere near fair or justified. Before this book was printed a lot of people closely likely had no idea whatsoever the atrocities that were going on between the slaves and the slave traders.
