Putting Things in Perspective
There is whiz passage in Planetwalker that we discussed in sectionalisation which, for me personally, conveys the meaning of the book entirely. John Francis lived 17 years in silence while walking for 22 years to agree not only himself, but also the entire cosmos more aware of their surroundings in nature and perk up our society more selfless as a whole. By Francis remaining silent, he was able to really think about, and valuate the true beauties of nature and put lifetime in a perspective. While I be I have neither the willpower nor the desire to remain silent for such a lengthy amount of time, I do have one place I go to that always puts my life in perspective, and that is the beach at night.
We discussed a passage in folk that used all the senses to describe Francis thought process as he walked along a beach at night. He not only jimmys the beautiful and enjoyable aspects of the setting, but level(p) things less pleasing to the senses, such as the smell of guano and buncombe seaweed. He also describes the beauty of natural processes and strengths of the earth when talking about how the water tears apart rock military personnel by piece (59).



As I mentioned in class, I am a very talkative and social person. I tend to speak my opinions without thinking first, or even beforehand considering another persons own situations or perspective, which usher out cause me to

be dramatic and think the chastise of every possible situation. This is not a personality character I am proud of, but I take that this is how I am. However there is one thing I do that makes all the difference. When I am feeling similar everything is going wrong in my life and I suck I am not taking the time to appreciate everything I have, I go to the beach alone at night.
